Video: Pashinyan Finally Spoke Clearly - The Issue with the Catholicos is Mentioning Artsakh's Name: Karapetyan
Leader of the "Strong Armenia" faction, Narek Karapetyan, has stated that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in his speech to the National Assembly, effectively revealed the true reason behind the government's actions regarding the Supreme Patriarch of All Armenians.
“This man finally stated directly what he wants from the Catholicos. The issue has been naming Artsakh, mentioning Artsakh, not the things they claim,” Karapetyan said.
According to him, the other justifications previously put forward by the government are secondary. Karapetyan argued that the questions raised around the Catholicos serve as a tool for the government to exert political influence over the Armenian Apostolic Church and its spiritual center.
After the presentation of the government’s program in the National Assembly, Karapetyan also criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's negotiation policy. He pointed out that the government is lacking basic negotiation capabilities, which leads Armenia to face difficulties and lose partners.
He mentioned that Pashinyan’s speech today also demonstrated what he describes as a "binary" negotiation style. Karapetyan drew parallels with the negotiations surrounding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, asserting that Pashinyan has previously seen only two options: war or concession.
