Iran Issues Warning: Threatens to Seize Ships

Iran plans to impose restrictions, levy fines, and even seize ships that violate the rules set by Iranian authorities for passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This announcement was made by the Iranian administration responsible for maritime navigation oversight in the Strait.

"If ships violate the regulations established by the administration for passing through the Strait of Hormuz, they will face restrictions, including fines, detention, or the seizure of their vessels for future use of the strait," the statement reads.

The administration has indicated that ship owners conducting maritime transport in the Persian Gulf or from there should familiarize themselves with the list of violators to "avoid potential problems." It is noted that "ships that cooperate with those included in the violators' list will also be added to that list." Ship owners wishing to have their names removed from the list must "submit a special request to one of the administration's departments, explaining the reasons for the violation of Iranian regulations."
