Leader of the "Strong Armenia" faction Narek Karapetyan posed a question in the National Assembly to Babken Tyunyan, who has been nominated as the chairman of the Economic Issues Standing Committee, inquiring about his views on Armenia's economic development.

"We expected a more proactive presentation from you regarding the overall economic models of our country, future development, and sectoral priorities, but what we heard was that you have taken some steps and barely outlined the future you are proposing to our society," said Karapetyan.

Karapetyan provided data, stating that Armenia is currently experiencing a high economic cycle, the price of copper is at a historically high level, and billions of resources are flowing into Armenia as a result of the Russo-Ukrainian war. However, according to Karapetyan, the country continues to increase its state debt at a high rate.

In response to Karapetyan, Babken Tyunyan noted that the results of previous years' work have been presented to voters, who have given their votes and mandates to continue that work. "In the Republic of Armenia, if you look at the latest publication by the statistical committee, the average pension is 59,000 drams, while the average poverty line is 54,000 drams. I assume that the figures that will be published for 2026 will be much more optimistic than you imagine," Tyunyan said.
