Opposition MP Anna Grigoryan responded to the accusations and questions raised by Garik Sargsyan, a member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction, in the National Assembly.

“Mr. Sargsyan, you are here. I am pleased to hear your uncle is well; it's good to see you have a cousin like that who allocates tenders appropriately. Why should it be bad? I am very happy that he is well. You asked how my husband is; he is doing great. I just want to understand why you’re responding to the criticism regarding my accusations. I am stating that you were a community leader, and during your tenure, your uncle received tenders. Why are you accusing me of any actions or of the actions of my family members that are illegal or in conflict of interest? If any illegal actions were carried out by me or any member of my family, what has your prosecutor's office been doing for the past five years? How could they have been scrutinizing for five years?”

I want to understand what your questions are based on that I have committed any illegal actions. Naturally, no. What you are doing is a populist statement, but since you have also raised highlighted questions, I find it necessary to address them. However, I believe our people deserve to hear more politically motivated inquiries and responses. Nonetheless, I have understood one thing over these years; if you leave any question unanswered, it accumulates like this. For instance, regarding the hydroelectric power station, for five years now, they have been mentioning Anna Grigoryan's HPP. You and Arthur Hovhannisyan are now being tried; what do you want to discover anew? Moreover, it’s not that your government didn’t allow us to build an HPP; rather, I simply sold my 50% stake. I have gone; now I don’t know if that HPP has been built or is in process or not. What are you saying? Or you mention that Anna Grigoryan’s husband’s family obtained an area from the cultural heritage museum, where a mourning hall has been opened, Mr. Sargsyan, have you seen that area? Where is Garamyan Narek? The area used to be a barn, even though it belonged to the cultural heritage museum, it has been a barn-like area on the outskirts of the city.

My husband’s family signed a four-year contract, made a significant investment, and became the first mourning hall in Kapana. There hasn't been one in Kapan. Now, I want to ask what you are accusing us of, that we made an investment in a barn-like area? The contract has expired; we then applied, and it was not even extended. What nonsensical things are there? I want to understand. After all, if you raise questions, they should make sense. And regarding the Range Rover, my God, my husband probably had that car before I met him, about 20 years ago, by the way, it’s not green but blue. Yes, now I sometimes drive it; my husband has no problems with that car. What are you talking about, Mr. Sargsyan? I kindly advise you; I think it would be more preferable for you to talk about crocodiles. There, you are surely more substantive and interesting,” concluded Anna Grigoryan.
