Video: Armenian Agricultural Products Exported to Over 25 Countries, Papoyan Assures No Crop Left in Fields

Armenian fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products have been exported to over 25 countries under various programs. This was announced by the Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, during a conversation with reporters.

Addressing comments regarding the limited volumes of apricot sales in Armenian stores in France, the minister insisted that the government has largely resolved the issue of agricultural product sales. "The media reported about how much apricot would remain and rot on the ground. Not a single kilogram of apricot has gone to waste. Tomatoes also have not remained in the fields; they are being collected, sold, and exported," Papoyan stated.

According to him, the government has imposed a six-month restriction on imported tomato paste into Armenia. Following this, four Armenian factories have informed the ministry that they are ready to process all the marketable volumes of field and greenhouse tomatoes.

"I want to tell our farmers that this year not a single kilogram of tomatoes will remain in the fields. Moreover, regarding the export of tomatoes and tomato juices, the government will provide support to exporters," the minister announced.

On the request to lift restrictions on the import of Armenian tomatoes to Russia, Papoyan noted that Armenia is interested in the normal functioning of the EAEU. "We do not want the EAEU to collapse. We want it to remain and develop because the EAEU is our organization," he said.

Referring to the quotas for importing electric cars, the minister stated that as of August 1, the quota for 15,000 vehicles has not yet been exhausted. Data on the remaining quantities will be published in the first week of August.

Papoyan mentioned that the government is already working to secure next year's quotas, but he cannot guarantee a final result since the decision is made by consensus.

The minister also discussed the state management of 'Ararat Cement.' "There are many things to change there, not just the barn door. The quality of management has unfortunately been at the level of barn management. We need to turn it into a modern factory and change the criminal-oligarchic supply system. You will see the results soon," Papoyan declared.

He explained that the person appointed as the manager of the factory, Mr. Gevorgyan, who previously worked as an assistant to the Prime Minister, started working at the Ministry of Economy before his appointment.
