Tax Authority Uncovers 78 Million AMD Tax Evasion at Hotel Complex
The Investigative and Operational Intelligence Department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) received operational information indicating that a company providing hotel services and public catering in Tsaghkadzor had been concealing the actual volumes of tax liabilities.
To evade taxes, the company submitted distorted data in its monthly income tax and social security contributions calculations, as well as in the unified calculations for value-added tax and excise tax. This included misrepresenting the actual amounts allocated for employee remuneration and real turnover from sales. This information was reported by the SRC.
During extensive operational and investigative measures, it was revealed that the company failed to calculate and pay a total of approximately 78.4 million AMD in taxes and duties by not disclosing the actual amounts allocated for employee remuneration and sales turnover in the calculations submitted to the tax authority for the years 2023-2026.
Specifically, the company reported approximately 190.2 million AMD as the amount allocated for employee remuneration in its monthly income tax and social security contributions calculations for the years 2023-2026, while it is known that this amount actually exceeded 340.4 million AMD during the same period.
Additionally, it was found that from January 1, 2026, to June 15, 2026, the real turnover from public catering services provided by the company amounted to around 237.5 million AMD, while the company's fiscal revenue during the same period was approximately 136.5 million AMD.
As a result of the operational and investigative measures, a report regarding the apparent crime outlined in the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia has been submitted to the Investigative Committee’s main department for the investigation of economic crimes and smuggling, where a criminal proceeding has been initiated.
The State Revenue Committee urges all taxpayers to refrain from instances of non-documentation of economic transactions in the established manner. To this end, the SRC’s Investigative and Operational Intelligence Department will remain vigilant in clarifying the actual circumstances reflected in accounting documents regarding economic activities.
Notice: A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia by a court’s verdict that has entered into legal force.
