NATO Attempts to 'Pull' Armenia Away from CSTO, Says Russian Permanent Representative
NATO member states and certain Western countries are striving to 'pull' Armenia away from its CSTO allies. This was stated by Viktor Vasiliev, the Russian permanent representative to the CSTO, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“We note the efforts of NATO member states and individual Western countries to 'pull' Armenia away from its CSTO allies, including through joint military exercises,” Vasiliev noted.
In his assessment, the current leadership's approach does not align with the long-term interests of safeguarding the country’s security and sovereignty. “Those who study the history of the region, including over centuries, will undoubtedly find numerous facts that demonstrate that the fate of the Armenian people has been very complex and sometimes bloody. It is clear and evident who has been the main guarantor of its security and prosperity throughout this long history,” added the Russian diplomat.
