The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has described the situation in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta as "unacceptable" amid a massive influx of migrants. "We cannot allow anyone to enter our Union by bypassing our rules. Dangerous border crossings must be stopped immediately, smuggling networks dismantled, and the return of migrants must be executed swiftly according to our rules," the head of the European Commission stated on the social media platform X.

Von der Leyen also noted that the European Commission supports the Spanish authorities in stabilizing the situation and is in contact with Moroccan representatives, from where many migrants have arrived, aiming for specific results.

It should be recalled that an emergency situation has developed in the Spanish exclave of Ceuta, as a large number of migrants from Morocco have reached the city. According to reports from July 31 by Reuters, approximately 49,000 migrants have surged into the Spanish Ceuta city, located on the African coast and bordering Morocco. The number of migrants who have died while attempting to reach Ceuta has reached 27.
