Government allocates an additional 650 million AMD for Vedi Reservoir

The Vedi Reservoir will be fully operational by the end of 2027. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Tigran Khachatryan, during a government meeting.

According to him, the reservoir is designed to hold 30 million cubic meters of water, but as of now, it is filled with only 12.5 million cubic meters. Khachatryan explained that it is not filling completely because during the active irrigation season, water is redirected for agricultural use.

He noted that during 2027, it is planned to increase the water filling capacity of the reservoir to 20 million cubic meters, and by the end of that year, to the full capacity of 30 million cubic meters.

During the government meeting, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, announced that an additional 650 million AMD will be allocated for the Vedi Reservoir project. He stated that approximately 468 million AMD would be directed to the contractor within the framework of the completion guarantee, while 117 million AMD would be used to pay for consulting services.

Khachatryan also informed that the implementation of three new reservoir projects in Kasakh, Lichq, and Elpin has commenced, with construction expected to start by the end of this year. He added that agreements for financing have already been reached for the Artik and Astghadzor reservoirs, while the project for the Mastara Reservoir has already been completed. Additionally, design work is underway for another 12 reservoirs.
