England Fights Against Drought: Rivers Drying Up, Water Supplies Decreasing
A drought has been declared in part of England due to a heatwave that has occurred for the fourth time this summer. According to TASS, this was announced by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The drought has been declared in Devon, Dorset, the West Midlands, Cornwall, Somerset, Wiltshire, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, as well as in East Anglia, the Thames Valley, London, the Isle of Wight, and South Gloucestershire.
"A significant part of central, eastern, and southern England is currently suffering from an unexpected drought, a phenomenon that is rapidly developing due to extremely low levels of rainfall and high temperatures. River water levels are decreasing, farmers are forced to harvest crops early, the risk of wildfires is increasing, and millions of people are living under water use restrictions," the statement said.
