Attack on UAE Nuclear Power Plant: Ministry of Defense Issues Statement
The Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates reported on May 17 about the detection and monitoring of three unmanned aerial vehicles that penetrated the country's airspace from the western direction. According to the military agency, two of the aerial targets were successfully destroyed by air defense systems. However, the third UAV managed to evade the air defense system and struck a generator located outside the external fence of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Al-Dhafra region.
The defense structure emphasizes that the attack did not cause damage to the main structures and infrastructure of the nuclear plant, and the facility’s normal operations have not been disrupted. Currently, military experts and law enforcement agencies are conducting an investigation to identify the launch site of the UAVs and those responsible for the attack.
