Violations at the "Shaki" HPP
The Environmental and Mining Inspection Body is conducting an inspection at the "Shaki" Hydropower Plant (HPP) operated by "Hakobjanyan and Galstyan HPP" LLC in the village of Shaki, Syunik province, following a report regarding the decrease in water flow at the Shaki waterfall.
As a result of the inspection, the inspectors noted that the company has been operating the HPP in violation of the water usage permit requirements. The company has exceeded the established water abstraction limits, withdrawing 13,538,687 cubic meters of water from the Shaki River, breaching the monthly established water abstraction volumes, the timeframe for water usage, and the operational regime.
An assessment of the impact of economic activities on the water resource has been carried out, amounting to 27,077,374 AMD. The director of the company will be subject to administrative liability.
