Prisoners of War Exchanged: 205 for 205 Amidst Russia-Ukraine Crisis
Russia and Ukraine have conducted a prisoner swap, exchanging 205 prisoners for 205 in a format confirmed by both sides. The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that "Russia has returned 205 military personnel from Ukrainian captivity, in return for 205 Ukrainian servicemen." The Russian soldiers have been transferred to Belarus.
The exchange was facilitated by mediation from the UAE. In recent days, both Moscow and Kyiv had announced preparations for the swap. Initially, reports indicated that the exchange would follow a 1000 for 1000 format.
