Unfounded. Russia Comments on Trump’s Statement
US President Donald Trump believes in the extension of the ceasefire regime between Russia and Ukraine, but this depends not only on himself, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated in a conversation with journalists.
Earlier, Trump expressed support for a significant extension of the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, declaring the need to expand the ceasefire period beyond the previously announced dates from May 9 to 11.
“The man is hopeful, maybe he believes, why not. He is contributing to this. But the extension of the ceasefire depends not only on him, but also on the other two sides,” Ushakov said.
In response to a clarifying question about whether Trump’s hopes for the extension of the ceasefire are unfounded, the Russian leader’s aide answered positively. “Unfounded, I would say,” Ushakov noted.
