CEC Validates Withdrawal of Two Parliamentary Candidates
The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia has declared the registration of two parliamentary candidates invalid during its extraordinary meeting on May 6.
According to Article 90, Part 3 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia, candidates have the right to withdraw their candidacy no later than 10 days before the voting day, until 18:00, as well as after the voting day, given that an application is submitted. The withdrawal application is authenticated notarially, or the candidate confirms their withdrawal application at the Central Electoral Commission's meeting.
If a parliamentary candidate submits a withdrawal application, they are removed from the electoral list of the party (or party alliance).
The CEC had received withdrawal applications from parliamentary candidates Anna Valeri Isahakyan and Sevak Aram Martirosyan, included in the electoral list of the "DEMOCRACY LAW ENFORCEMENT" party. They were present at the CEC's extraordinary meeting and reaffirmed their applications. The registration of the mentioned candidates has been declared invalid.
