We Will Never Change Our Position: EC President's Response to Aliyev

During the 8th summit of the European Political Community, EC President Roberta Metsola responded to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who criticized the European Parliament and the Council of Europe for adopting pro-Armenian resolutions. Metsola requested an urgent speech, stating that such criticisms should not go unanswered.

Aliyev utilized the Yerevan platform to accuse the European Parliament and the PA of targeting Azerbaijan. “The European Parliament is a democratic body consisting of directly elected representatives. Resolutions in the EC are adopted by a majority, and their outcomes may create discomfort for many, but we will never change our procedures or the positions we have adopted,” said Roberta Metsola.

It is noteworthy that on April 30, the European Parliament adopted a resolution condemning the illegal detention of Armenian prisoners of war and captives in Azerbaijan, demanding their immediate release.
