Iran's Spiritual Leader Makes Statement
Iran's spiritual leader has stated that stability in the region is only possible without the presence of foreign forces.
In a speech marking the National Day of the Persian Gulf, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei addressed issues of regional security. He emphasized that the presence of American military forces in the Persian Gulf is a major factor of instability. According to Khamenei, the future of the region will be shaped without the involvement of the United States, and there is no place for foreign powers there.
Referring to the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian leader noted that Tehran's control over this waterway is a guarantee of stability and aligns with the interests of all the peoples of the region. He stated that following the failure of American plans and recent events, a new phase of developments is beginning in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
Khamenei also specifically highlighted Iran's defensive capabilities. He declared that the country's missile and nuclear potential is a "national heritage" that will be defended.
This stance is seen as a response to pressures from Washington and attempts to limit Iran's military programs.
