Vardan Ghukasyan to Remain in Custody
The court has rejected the motion to lift the detention of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan; he will remain in custody.
“The court rejected the motion. The question of preventive measures will be reconsidered in May. This motion was presented temporarily, and the court deemed it subject to rejection. At this point, we can't say more because we still don't have the decision,” said Ghukasyan’s lawyer Aramais Hayrapetyan in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
The next court hearings are scheduled for May 6 and 14.
It should be noted that Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan was detained in October 2025. He has been charged with bribery.
