Lebanon Appreciates First Negotiations with Israel
The Lebanese ambassador to the United States, Nada Hamade, has praised the first negotiations with Israel in several decades. She clarified that during a meeting with Israeli Ambassador to Washington, Yekhi’el Leiters, she urged an end to hostilities.
“I also urged taking practical steps to alleviate the acute humanitarian crisis that the country continues to suffer from due to the ongoing conflict,” Hamade stated in her comments published by the Lebanese embassy.
Yekhi’el Leiter indicated that the negotiations went as well as possible. “Today we discovered that we are on the same side of the barrier. This is the most positive outcome we could achieve,” he added.
It is noteworthy that the meeting of the ambassadors took place on April 14, with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in attendance. Direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon have occurred for the first time since 1993.
