China May Supply Iran with Air Defense Systems: CNN
According to U.S. intelligence data, China may transfer new air defense systems to Iran in the coming weeks. This is reported by CNN, citing sources close to American intelligence agencies.
The systems in question include portable anti-aircraft missile complexes, which previously posed a significant threat to low-altitude U.S. military aircraft during a five-week operation by the U.S. and Israel. It is noted that Iran could utilize such systems if the previously declared ceasefire is violated.
Sources indicate that Beijing may present these deliveries as support of an exclusively defensive nature, emphasizing that they are not intended for offensive operations. At the same time, intelligence assessments suggest that Iran could use the ceasefire period to replenish its weapon stockpiles through external partners.
According to the same reports, such deliveries could be carried out through third countries to obscure their true origin.
