The demand was made during negotiations held at the White House between US and NATO officials, attended by Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The same issue was also discussed at the Pentagon and the US State Department. Allied nations are expected to present specific proposals in the coming days to ensure maritime traffic safety in the region.
