Pashinyan Discusses New Constitution: Reference to Independence Declaration Should Be Absent
In the new Constitution, there should be no reference to the Declaration of Independence, as the Declaration is built on the logic of conflict, and it is impossible to build an independent state on the logic of conflict. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a government briefing.
Referring to the speech of the Prime Minister of Armenia in the European Parliament, which also mentioned the spiritual class of Armenia, Pashinyan clarified: "I attend services and see that during the services (although there is nothing similar in the text of the service), they deviate from the text of the service and say 'Republic of Artsakh' and so on. Very well, if we all reference the Republic of Artsakh, it means, first, conflict. If we adopt that theory, on the way to the adoption of that theory, we must go towards conflict; every such sentence today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow means a call for war."
Pashinyan reminded that he has already stated that there is no Nagorno-Karabakh movement. "Every time a name is mentioned from the altar, every time we say 'Republic of Artsakh' from any podium, it is stepping onto the path of war. Every time we say such things, Azerbaijan also develops its discourse. When they talk about return, what return are they talking about? From where to return? There is a theme of refugees' return, and Azerbaijan also brings up the same theme. These themes develop, clash with each other, and lead to war," he said.
