Iran's Foreign Ministry Issues Statement
The UN Security Council resolution demanding Iran cease its attacks on Arab countries is illegal, stated Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry. "The UN Security Council resolution regarding Iran is completely illegal. Nothing can undermine the inherent right of any state to self-defense," Baghaei wrote on his social media page.
He noted that this resolution distorts the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and also demonstrates the deep decay of the Security Council system due to its exploitation by Washington. "No country should provide any assistance in the illegal war against Iran waged by the US and Israel. This aggression against Iran could not have been carried out without the use of American military bases and assets located in the Persian Gulf states," added the Iranian diplomat.
