The State Must Protect the Dignity of Its Citizens: Levon Kocharyan
In recent years, the discourse in our country seems to be more about survival. We are being persuaded that a strong country is one that does not make unnecessary noise and sacrifices its dignity to survive unnoticed on the map, a notion I fundamentally reject. This was stated by Levon Kocharyan, a member of the 'Armenia' faction, during the 'Breakthrough' Youth Forum.
"I believe that a strong country is one that not only protects its borders but also the dignity of its citizens. A strong state is one in which, as a citizen, you can travel around the world, feel absolute pride, not pity or anxiety, but respect. You know, when it comes to having a strong country, I place a lot of importance on national identity, and I believe this should be the basis of our progress. Our history, traditions, church, language, and family values are the roots that nourish us.
For young people, what does a strong state mean? I think one of the most important aspects is having a technologically advanced state. I am confident that the label 'Made in Armenia' can become a strong brand, even in the field of information technology. The role of the government here should be to remove obstacles from your path, protect the country, and actively finance education and research without bureaucratic hindrances," he said.
