No Cases of Overcharging Found in January Inspections, Reports Electricity Company
The Electricity Networks of Armenia (HETC) reports that no cases of overcharging were found following the inspection of around seventy complaints received regarding electricity consumption in January.
The increase in consumption is attributed to the normal surge in electricity usage during the New Year holidays and harsh cold weather conditions. "For the information of our citizens, we have conducted thorough checks based on all received complaints. To date, following the inspections carried out based on these complaints (about 70 cases), we can state that no cases of overcharging have been registered. Overall, according to the analysis results, the increase in electricity consumption in January compared to previous months is due to two main factors: the normal increase of electricity consumption during the New Year holidays and the harsh cold weather conditions throughout January," the statement reads.
According to the analysis conducted by the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, the first ten days of January were characterized by daily temperatures below normal. On January 3, the lowest temperature of the month was recorded in Ashotsk at -37°C, while temperatures in the Ararat Plain and Yerevan dropped to -18.2°C.
Dear citizens, if you still have reasonable suspicions about possible overcharging at your addresses, you can inform us by writing to [email protected], specifying "disagreement over consumption" in the subject line, and be sure to include your subscriber card number and phone number. Specialists from the relevant department of the company will conduct an inspection within a maximum of three days; for electronic meters, this will involve checking the servers/registers, while for non-electronic meters, a site visit and inspection will be carried out. You will be duly informed of the results by the Company," the statement from HETC concludes.
