Lavrov: Stories of Russian Threats to Greenland are False
Allegations about potential threats to Greenland from Russia or China, spread by American media, are akin to the Soviet joke about moving a parrot across the border by any means necessary, stated Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister.
“We do not know where the arguments originate that if the U.S. does not take it, Russia and China will, because they supposedly have already 'occupied' the area with their submarines. This was later denied by American official agencies, but the story, as they say, continues. They are persistent. They have to cross the border by any means, as in that joke, through both the teeth and the back skin,” he said in an interview with the online project “Empathy Manuchi.”
The minister pointed out that Russia has repeatedly stated that the question of Greenland's ownership does not concern them.
