Iran Opposes Trump's Plan Regarding Armenia and Azerbaijan
Iran opposes U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to create a transit corridor linking two parts of Azerbaijan through Southern Armenia, considering it a threat to its security, stated the senior advisor to Iran's supreme leader, Velayati, during a meeting with the Armenian ambassador in Tehran.
The senior advisor also mentioned that Iran has always been against the so-called Zangezur corridor, as Tehran rejects any changes to regional borders and is wary of security threats. He highlighted that the corridor could facilitate NATO's presence in northern Iran, which would pose serious security risks for Iranian northern regions and southern Russia.
He added that “Trump's plan” is essentially the same project, merely renamed, and is currently being executed through American companies entering Armenia.
