Nikol Pashinyan Proposes New Initiative
Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, has proposed that the national anthem of Armenia be played in the Armenian Apostolic Church before the Divine Liturgy. He shared this idea on his Facebook page.
“There is a passage in the text of the Divine Liturgy of the Armenian Apostolic Church that the priests begin with. Essentially, the liturgy states the following: ‘O great and unfathomable counsel, eternal, who has adorned your upper state with the angelic hosts in brilliant glory.’ The reference is made to the upper state, and playing the national anthem before the liturgy will document the connection between the upper and internal states,” Pashinyan remarked.
He also suggested that the presence of the Armenian national flag should be discussed in churches within the country, either at the entrance or inside, noting that this is a common practice in several countries.
