Russia to Recognize Driving Licenses Only from Countries Where Russian Is an Official Language: Vyacheslav Volodin
Russia is set to recognize driving licenses only from countries where Russian has official status. Citizens from other countries will need to pass tests to drive in Russia. This was announced by the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin, during a plenary session of the Duma.
According to Volodin, if a person comes from a country where Russian is not an official language, Russia cannot recognize their driving license. He stated, "Citizens of these countries must take tests to verify their knowledge of traffic rules and driving skills. Only then can they obtain a Russian driving license."
He emphasized that knowledge of the Russian language is a key condition for the recognition process of foreign driving licenses by Russia.
