Venezuela to Close Its Embassy in Norway Amid Rising Tensions with the US
Venezuela will close its embassy in Norway following the awarding of a peace prize to opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. This was reported by Reuters.
"The Venezuelan government has announced that it will close its embassies in Norway and Australia and will open new ones in Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe as part of the restructuring of its diplomatic service," the report states.
According to the agency, the decision to close the embassies comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Venezuela. It is noted that this decision was made just a few days after opposition leader Maria Corina Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
