Military Operations in Ukraine Will Continue, Says Russian General Staff Chief
Valery Gerasimov, the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, has summarized the outcomes of the spring-summer military operations and outlined the upcoming objectives for the troops.
According to Gerasimov, 99.7% of the Luhansk region and approximately 79% of the Donetsk region are under the control of Russian forces. He also noted that 74% of Zaporizhzhia and 76% of Kherson are likewise controlled by Russia.
Gerasimov stated that Russian troops have continued to advance in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Since March, more than 3,500 square kilometers of territory and 149 settlements have come under control.
He mentioned that during the spring-summer period, strikes were made on 76 military facilities. Gerasimov emphasized that in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, the Russian side continues to implement the process of creating a security zone. He added that in several directions, Russian forces have improved their positions and captured new settlements.
