Showing of Ukraine Map was a Powerful Blow to Kyiv Authorities: Zakharova
During the negotiations between U.S. President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, the displayed map of Ukraine was a powerful blow to the authorities in Kyiv and their supporters. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“It was such a powerful blow that it should have brought to their senses all those who, for years, disconnected from history, geography, and reality, spoke of some 'battlefield' where everything was supposedly to be decided. This blow should have somehow magically sobered Zelensky up. Although, I believe it will be very difficult for anyone to finally sober him up,” Zakharova announced.
She added that the map clearly showed Zelensky and his entourage the scale of losses in all respects.
Recall that on August 18, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders of EU countries at the White House. According to British media, a map of Ukraine was displayed in the Oval Office, with the eastern territories colored in pink, symbolizing Russian control. Later, Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino published a photo of that map.
Zelensky himself thanked Trump for the photo and stated that he would take it back to Ukraine. Earlier, Trump declared that Ukraine would not become part of NATO and could not return Crimea.
