US Responds to Israel's Strikes on Iran
The US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio has addressed Israel's strikes on Iran. He noted that the US was aware of the impending actions but is not involved in the process. “We have not participated in the strikes against Iran, and our top priority is the security of our regional forces,” Rubio stated in his announcement.
“Israel has informed us that this action was necessary for its self-defense.” Rubio issued a strong warning to Iran just one day after the order to withdraw some of the United States' diplomatic personnel from the Middle East. “Let this be clear: Iran should not target US interests or personnel,” he said.
Hours before the strikes, Trump had called for a diplomatic solution, while simultaneously stating that strikes against Iran “could happen very soon.”
