Shots Fired: Arzni Mayor Also Detained
A fight involving participants in Kotayk ended in a brawl with shots fired, resulting in one individual sustaining injuries. According to the Investigative Committee, a criminal case has been initiated on June 8, 2025, under several articles of the Armenian Criminal Code, including part 1 of article 44-155, part 2 of article 297, part 3 of article 297, and part 1 of article 335. Eight individuals have been arrested, including the mayor of Arzni.
Panorama.am reports that following the incidents of brawl and gunfire on June 8, detectives from the Kotayk criminal police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs acted on received operational information and transferred a group of individuals to the police station in Byureghavan. The arrested include Kotayk residents Felix Mirzoyan, the mayor of Arzni; 35-year-old David Vanyan; 34-year-old Virab Virabyan; 32-year-old Ashur Ilyayev; 53-year-old Karlen Simonov; 46-year-old Arkadi Moiseyev; and 39-year-old Albert Sarkisov.
It has also been established who the injured person is: 22-year-old Kolya Miseev, a resident of Kotayk, has been hospitalized. Additionally, two cars, a “Mazda 6” and a “Toyota,” have been moved to the special area protected by the Byureghavan police, the former showing signs of impact and having a broken right-side mirror.
