Entry of Unknown Origin Animals into Armenia Suspended: SATM
Thanks to the vigilance of inspectors from the Gogavan-Privolnoye Border State Control Division of the Food Safety Inspection Body, the entry of animals of unknown origin into the Republic of Armenia has been identified and suspended at the Gogavan border checkpoint. This was reported by the SATM.
“The study of the documents accompanying the batch of transported animals, particularly veterinary certificates, raised suspicions that they were forged. The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor) confirmed that no documents had been provided for this batch of calves (205 heads),” the statement said.
The direct function of SATM is to verify all accompanying documents for imported and exported animals. Animals of unknown origin are subject to return or destruction. Especially considering the officially confirmed outbreaks of the SAT2 type of foot-and-mouth disease in neighboring countries, the entry of any batch of animals of unknown origin into Armenia will be suspended,” the communication stated.
