The Only Condition for Signing Final Peace is This: Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry
Official Baku has the legal right to demand changes in Armenia's Constitution, which includes "territorial claims against Azerbaijan"; this remains a key condition for signing a final peace agreement, Azerbaijani media report.
This was announced by Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ayhan Hajiyev. Hajiyev noted that Prime Minister Pashinyan's statements are "yet another attempt to mislead the international community regarding the Azerbaijani-Armenian peace process."
"Even the coat of arms of Armenia, as specified in Article 21 of the Armenian Constitution, reflects territorial claims against its current neighbors," the statement reads.
It is noteworthy that yesterday, Nikol Pashinyan, in response to a question from a reporter of Azerbaijan's public television, stated that they still do not have a new draft of the Constitution. "We have analyzed our Constitution and know that the issues raised by Azerbaijan are obvious, and de jure, as per the ruling of our Constitutional Court, there is no claim in our current Constitution against any of our neighbors,” he said.
