Trump to Rename the Persian Gulf
The United States will rename the Persian Gulf to the Arabic Gulf. This statement was made by U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump is set to make an official announcement during his visit to Saudi Arabia in May. Iran opposes such a designation. Persian is the traditional geographic name for the gulf, named after ancient Persia, the region that includes modern-day Iran.
