Putin Puts Armenia on the Spot to Make a Choice: BBC
Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded clarification from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding Armenia's choice between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union during a meeting in Bishkek. This was reported by the BBC.
According to Putin, Armenia's adopted law on initiating EU membership effectively signifies a declaration of withdrawal from the EAEU, as it is not possible to be a member of both unions simultaneously.
Pashinyan countered that Armenia is aware that a specific choice will need to be made, but he asserted that the time for that has not yet arrived. “In fact, we currently have no alternative; that alternative has not really been created,” Pashinyan said.
