False Information: Ministry of Education Denies Reports About Torchlight Procession
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia has denied rumors that it sent circulars to universities and schools urging them to refrain from participating in a torchlight procession. Nelli Vahanyan, the press secretary of the ministry, spoke with Sputnik Armenia stating that this information is false and unfounded.
"Of course, such a circular has not been sent. The information in question does not correspond to reality at all. Such conversations have never taken place at any level," Vahanyan noted.
It is worth reminding that prior to the torchlight procession, as a sign of protest, members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation traditionally burn the flags of Turkey and Azerbaijan. Afterward, all participants head to the Armenian Genocide Memorial to pay their respects to the victims of the genocide that took place in 1915.
