We Will Consider It a Positive Step: State Department
The U.S. State Department announced on Sunday that it would welcome any extension of the one-day ceasefire declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin for Easter, despite earlier statements from the Kremlin indicating that no such extension order had been issued, according to Reuters.
“We acknowledge President Putin's announcement regarding the temporary ceasefire for Easter. The United States remains committed to a complete and comprehensive cessation of hostilities. An extension of the ceasefire beyond Sunday would be viewed as a positive step, should it come to fruition,” said a U.S. State Department spokesperson.
