New Regulation for Payments with QR Codes by the Central Bank
The Central Bank of Armenia's Council has decided to establish a requirement for the interoperability of payments and transfers made using QR codes, which will come into effect on October 1, 2025.
What the New Regulation Entails
In retail and/or service locations, it will be possible to make payments through a single unified QR code using the applications of all financial organizations that offer QR payment options. This means that there will be no need to worry about which app to use, making payments simple, convenient, and accessible.
Purpose of the Regulation
The new approach aims to streamline and enhance the process of making payments with QR codes, promote the dissemination of cashless payments, and contribute to the creation of a more inclusive and accessible environment for financial services.
Attention
This regulation applies exclusively to payment QR codes and does not extend to product QR codes (for example, QR codes used in public transportation).
