VIDEO. No Privileges Granted to Drivers, Police Statement
On the evening of November 26, police in the capital stopped a vehicle. During the inspection, a passenger presented red and blue identification documents to the law enforcement officers. This was reported by the National Police of the Republic of Armenia.
"The individual has been arrested on suspicion of preparing or using fake documents and has been transferred to the community division, while the documents in question have been handed over to the investigative department. And this is not an isolated case. Recently, there has been a phenomenon where patrol officers stop vehicles for traffic violations, and the driver, in an attempt to evade administrative responsibility, shows various documents claiming to grant him privileges. The police warn that various certificates, whether issued by a state or other institutions, do not grant any privileges to the driver. If it turns out that the document is fake, there are specific articles in the criminal code that will apply," the statement reads.
