Current Armenian Population in Artsakh: Former Human Rights Defender
Nearly 60 people remained in Artsakh after September 2023; today their number is 14. This was announced by former Artsakh Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan during a panel discussion titled "Towards Sustainable and Long-Term Peace." He spoke about the return of residents to Artsakh, noting, "Even those individuals who had some hope of staying and living within Azerbaijan's jurisdiction have ultimately come to the conclusion that this is impossible and have subsequently turned to the Red Cross, requesting to be transferred to Armenia. This is also an indicator that should be utilized," said Stepanyan, adding, "There are specific individuals who remained but then, once again convinced that it was impossible, left and departed."
