Armenian Teams Start New Conference League Season with Victories
On July 11, in the first qualifying round of the 2024/25 Conference League, the teams "Noah" and "Urartu" played their matches.
In the first qualifying round of the Conference League, "Urartu" competed against "Kalju" in Estonia today. In the first half, the teams exchanged one goal each. In the 11th minute, the home team took the lead through Tristan Tevalin. In the 28th minute, Edgar Movsesyan, making his debut for the Yerevan club, equalized the score.
In the second half, Movsesyan also scored a second goal, finding the net in the 77th minute. The match ended with Gunkoy's team winning 2-1.
"Noah" hosted the North Macedonian club "Shkendija" at the Vahagn Tumasyan Stadium in Abovyan and won 2-0 against their opponents. The scoring opened only at the end of the second half. In the 81st minute, new Portuguese player Gregorio Gonzalez scored the first goal with a header. In the last minute of regular time, Alexander Milkowich doubled the hosts’ advantage, sending the ball into the visitors’ net after a corner kick on the second attempt.
It should be noted that the return matches between the teams will take place on July 18. The third Armenian representative in the tournament, "Ararat-Armenia," will enter the second qualifying round. In this round, the Armenian cup holder "Ararat-Armenia" will compete against the Moldovan club "Zimbru".
