Deputy Colonel Haikaz Jomardyan Under Investigation for Calling Journalist 'Scum'
The commander of the special forces battalion of the Yerevan city division, Deputy Colonel Haikaz Jomardyan, is now under investigation after insulting journalist Hasmik Arakelyan.
In an interview with Hayastan.news, Arakelyan stated that during a protest that took place today, she reported on the actions of the police: "During the protest, the mother of fallen soldier Arayik Baghdasaryan, Mrs. Gohar, was reprimanding the red berets for attempting to remove citizens from the scene of their protest. At that moment, Mrs. Gohar said, 'I spit on your face,' to which a red beret soldier turned around and replied, 'I’ll spit on your face.' I witnessed this and exclaimed 'you desecrate the memory of the dead soldier; how can you say such things to the mother of a fallen soldier?' At that point, the commander of the red berets approached and clarified my name, then said, 'You are the desecrator, Hasmik Arakelyan, you are scum,'" Arakelyan recounted.
