‘We will gather, maybe we will also bring hidden weapons’: Participants of the protest actions arrested
On May 7, 2024, a report was received regarding a video recording of a conversation published by a participant of the civil movement ‘Tavush for the homeland’ on the social media platform TikTok, containing the statement, ‘We will gather, maybe we will also bring hidden weapons.’ In this conversation, two individuals discuss their participation in the aforementioned movement's protest actions, the potential for secretly bringing weapons, and the need to remain silent about this publicly.
As a result, on May 7, 2024, the Kotayk regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee initiated a criminal proceeding under part 2 of Article 335 of the RA Criminal Code. The indicated video recording was examined within the framework of the preliminary investigation. The investigation revealed that the mentioned conversation and the video recorded on the TikTok user's page were published on May 6.
Information was received regarding a group of individuals illegally acquiring and possessing weapons and ammunition. Based on direct suspicion of committing the indicated crime, two individuals were arrested. Necessary investigative and procedural actions, as well as operational-search measures, are underway to clarify the circumstances of the case. The preliminary investigation continues.
