Community Police to Be Established
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has introduced a new draft legislative amendment aimed at establishing a new type of police force—community police. The draft states that the community police will be structurally similar to the patrol police.
"With the goal of moving towards a professional and specialized service, a structure is being developed to have regional levels, as well as territorial divisions directly subordinate to the main administration of the Community Police in Yerevan (similar to how the Patrol Service currently operates). These divisions will be responsible for functions related to community policing, juvenile affairs, and preventing domestic violence, conducting operational-investigative measures for minor and medium-severity crimes, and other support functions," the draft states.
In our country, it appears that only one structure is gaining strength and developing—the police, which is increasingly alienating itself from the public.
