Video: The Olympic Flame for the 2024 Summer Games Ignited in Greece
Today, on April 16, the Olympic flame was ignited in Ancient Olympia, Greece, in honor of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games set to take place in Paris.
The flame was lit on the altar of the ancient Greek Temple of Hera. The event featured a ceremony with several priestesses participating, who performed the ancient ritual of the Games.
The first torchbearer is Lory Manadoun, the Olympic champion from the 2004 Athens Games in swimming, who is representing France.
The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
