I Do Not Rule Out That Azerbaijan May Launch a Large-Scale Attack This Time: Rustamyan
The deputy of the opposition 'Armenia' faction of the National Assembly, Armen Rustamyan, does not rule out that Azerbaijan may carry out a large-scale attack against Armenia. He stated this during a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly today.
“If there is no threat of escalation, why is the government frightening our people with war? Recently, Nikol Pashinyan visited the border areas, where they are preparing to hand over territories, threatening with war. If there is no danger, there is no need to scare the people; but, in reality, this is not the case. This is a very clearly planned process; they scare from there, they scare from here, and create the impression that there is no other way, we must concede in order to survive,” he said.
According to him, the verbal conversations are accompanied by border tensions so that Azerbaijan and Turkey can achieve acceptable outcomes and reach their objectives. “Until the eradication of Armenian identity, until the elimination of the Armenian factor, and the transformation of Armenia into 'Western Azerbaijan.' Naturally, this process is being carried out by creating this climate of terror; we also say we are weak, we are incapable. I do not rule out that Azerbaijan may also go for a large-scale attack this time to solve the problem at once. In local clashes, Azerbaijan has always achieved some local results, but this time, I believe, that their problem is more global,” Rustamyan emphasized.
He noted that when it is said from Armenia that these territories belong to them, we invite them to enter those territories, including with troops. Armen Rustamyan announced that Turkey and Azerbaijan's goal is to bring Armenia to a state where it has no capacity even to defend its minimal interests. “They have a clear plan to neutralize the Armenian factor in the region,” the deputy added.
