Armenia's Five Major Reservoirs to Collect Twice as Much Water Compared to 2023: Hydro-Meteorological Center

Five major reservoirs are expected to collect 240-260 million cubic meters more water than last year. This was stated by Levon Azizyan, director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, during a meeting with journalists on April 5.

According to him, this amount is double that of 2023. He noted that the expected fill rates for the reservoirs are as follows: the Akhurian reservoir at 80-85%, the Arpi reservoir at 85-90%, the Aparan reservoir at 50-55%, and both the Azat and Marmarik reservoirs at 95-100%.

Azizyan forecasted that the water level in Lake Sevan would rise by 33-38 cm from April to June. “This will be the highest level in the last three years. By the end of the year, the water level in the lake is projected to reach 1900.14-1900.2 meters,” he added.

He emphasized that all conditions have been created to avoid additional withdrawals from Sevan, noting that everything depends on weather conditions.
